Monica Perez Penaflor

MONICA PEREZ PENAFLOR was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1964 from a family of artists, her grandmother was an artist and her mother is a landscape designer. Her art studies start early in Uruguay and continue in USA and in France .

1974- 80 Studies drawing and painting at “Taller del Molino" founded by Joaquín Torres García, with professor Deliotti.

1978- Studies Ceramics at Atelier Nowinsky, Montevideo .

1982-83 Studies printmaking, ceramics, and photography technics at ROYCROFT CULTURAL CENTER - East Aurora , N.Y. , USA

1984 - Universidad de Arquitectura, Montevideo, Uruguay.

1984-86 Escuela Municipal de Arte Dramático, Montevideo, Uruguay. Studies theater scenery , light and costumes design.

1984 - 86 Escuela Pedro Figari, Montevideo . Drawing and painting with professors Pedro Rodríguez y Raúl Rial.

1986-89 Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, Montevideo, Uruguay.

1991-92 Paris , France , painting studies at “Ecole National des Beaux Arts” - , and printing at - ATELIER 17 CONTREPOINT founded by S. HYTER- where she learns the simultaneous coloring technic or viscosity printing.

1992 Mali and Senegal - Research on African art and culture.

1992- Marries Miguel Zubieta in Montevideo , Uruguay .

1993-94 Nude drawing and painting with professor Pepe Montes, Casa de la Cultura, Montevideo.

1994 - 99 The family moves to Colonia , Uruguay where Mateo and Maite are born. Works in her Atelier in the countryside ,La Tranquilona - Farm.
