| TALLERES
DEL MERCADO |
|
|
Talleres
del Mercado is a unique place in Uruguay, that brings together twelve
of our most outstanding living artists: Álvaro Amengual, Federico Arnaud,
Eduardo Cardozo, Diego Donner, Fermín Hontou (Ombú), Carlos Musso, Inés
Olmedo, Virginia Patrone, José Pelayo, Álvaro Pemper, Fidel Sclavo and
Carlos Seveso. |
|
| These
artists have got together to set up their painting, drawing, and sculpture
studios in a single corner of the Old City of Montevideo, just two blocks
from the Mercado del Puerto. |
|
| They
all belong to an intermediate generation, in between the old masters
and the emerging young, and it is a group of artists whose professional
work has remained consistent for several years. Their work has been
prized on many occasions in Uruguay, and they have represented the country
in international exhibits and contests. |
|
| The
studios are open to the public, so visitors can not only see and buy
from a wide range of top-notch Uruguayan art, but they can also speak
with the artists themselves and see them at work. |
